Community Forum Class

Community Forum welcomes both newcomers and returning members. As a group interested in new ideas, this class also serves as a forum where the thoughts and concerns of each individual are important. Chosen speakers and discussion leaders crystallize our thinking, expand minds, question opinions, apply scriptural precepts and scrutinize our doctrinal heritage. Each Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. the Church Parlor serves as a congenial spot for inquiring minds.

Class leadership is widely shared through responsibility for organized posts, opening devotions, fellowship, social events, and outreach to persons in need. As a class we determine and support an ambitious budget focused on local, national, and overseas mission projects. The yearly calendar includes a Christmas party, Fall picnic, class brunches and serving at the Hospitality Table.

Our History

This adult class came into being in 1947 during the pastorship of Dewey Eder and under the caring advisorship of Obed and Marie Albrecht. Beginning as the Young Couples Class it started as ten individuals and quickly grew. Alma Hanneld served as inspired teacher, followed by Jim Stein, Nathan Bartel, and later Bill Naumann. The passage of years along with the ever-expanding membership called for the name to be changed - first to Couples Class, then to Couples Plus and finally to Community Forum.

We are not a bunch of teenagers who have not seen much of life. We have been there - we have clogged arteries, we have lost hearing, we have lost breasts, we have lost teeth, we have lost thyroids, we have lost hair, we have lost prostates, we have lost eyesight. But, we have gained knees, we have gained friends, we have gained understanding, we have gained a keener sense of humor, we have gained knowledge, and we have gained faith. Come, be one of us.
