Sunday School
Christian education is a life-long journey. United Methodism is historically rooted in adult study and education, and those traditions are alive and well at Community UMC. With six active adult Sunday School classes and a variety of special offerings, Community UMC has something for everyone. All the adult Sunday School classes are open, welcoming to visitors, and meet at 9:30 a.m. from September through May. Why not try one?

Covenant Disciple Groups
For more than 25 years, the Methodist Church has sanctioned covenant groups to help members explore their faith more deeply, and with more accountability. Community UMC currently has five covenant groups (three for women, two for men) but always has room for more. The groups of about 5-8 men or women meet weekly for an hour at a schedule they determine to discuss their successes and failures in following a set of agreed-upon disciplines. The trust within each group allows members to accept themselves and one another by seeking the grace of God. Contact Maria Wilcox, Director of Christian Education, to find out more about Covenant Disciple Groups at CUMC.
United Methodist Men
Each church or charge shall have an organized unit of United Methodist Men chartered and annually re-certified through the General Commission on United Methodist Men to provide a dedicated ministry for building men spiritually and involving men in the total ministry of the Church.
— UM Book of Discipline
Community UMC's United Methodist Men gather for fellowship regularly through the year. In addition to coffee and donuts, discussion is served with invited speakers often leading the way. The UMM is also active in service projects, including Habitat for Humanity. Please contact the office for further information.
United Methodist Women
Our purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
— Purpose Statement of the UMW
The United Methodist Women is a one-million member organization whose purpose is to foster spiritual growth, develop leaders and advocate for justice. Members raise more than $20 million a year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world. Any woman can be a member whether she is United Methodist or not.
Community UMC's UMW participates in the ministries of the global UMW and has many local groups. These include Studio Workshop, which meets Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m. (childcare provided), to work on crafts for the annual Harvest of the Hands craft show; the Knitting Circle, which meets Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m., to make prayer shawls and other knitted goods; the Book Circle, which meets monthly from September to May; and the Evening Outreach Circle, which meets monthly from September to May. Please contact the office for further information.
Social and Service Groups
Community UMC has many small groups that develop their Christian faith through fellowship. Other members find fulfilment and develop their faith through service to the church and the community. See our social activities page for some of these.
